La fin des années 1950 a vu se dessiner un intérêt pour les pratiques graphiques d'Extrême Orient à la suite des automatismes venus du Surréalisme. Les interventions gestuelles spontanées jetées sur le papier en "accompagnement" de photos de magazines tentaient de révéler leur sens plastique à la manière de l'Unique trait de pinceau.
Par ailleurs, quelques exemples de la diversité des travaux, techniques et intentions diverses, simples exercices ou essais plus cohérents, pourraient être développés à l'infini. Ils montrent la permanence des pratiques graphiques.
